Not so random..
There should be a lesson for all dog owners who own a dog that is smaller or about the same size as a football. If your dog is puntable... keep it on a short leash during rush hour in NYC.. because I really do NOT enjoy playing Chinese jump rope with the leash pre-9AM just so I don't squish your dog by stepping on it.
I don't have much to report really. Went to Ikea last night after work. Bought some things.. nothing big.. so, in lieu of lotsa little randoms, here is some bigger news:
I haven't had a cigarette since November 1st.. well, Wednesday was my first whole smoke free day. I had one many Tuesday night and that was that. It wasn't intentionally my last one. Kind of super easy. I imagine this will get harder at some point.. but somehow envisioning corroded arteries when I think of smoke, plus all of a sudden (after 16 years) the smell grosses me out... today is day 3. Easypeasy so far. Sometimes I surprise me.
I wasn't planning on quitting till November 27th.. but I think I maybe did this week? I still have an open pack in my purse. I'm pretty sure there's a lighter in my coat pocket still.. but now that i've survived the first two days.. why start up again? Time to put away the ashtrays and get rid of those cheap cartons I bought in Virginia.
Who wouldda thunk.
Happy weekend!
I kind of want to play Chinese Jump Rope now. Weird, right?!?

BIG congratulations to you. I did it a few years ago after a few decades of smoking and it was really hard. I think I must have tried 30 times before it finally stuck I hope it continues to be easy breezy for you. If not, the nice thing is, you can just keep quitting.
Congrats! Haven't had one of those things for over 20 years and don't miss the cigarette hangovers one bit. However, I will still enjoy the rare cigar (couple a year or so).
Good Luck!
If you can find the strength, throw that open pack away or give it to a panhandler. The less temptation right now the better. Eventually you can be around smokers and not want to smoke but the first weeks are wicked. I know you can do it! I smoked 20 years, I'm kind of scared what I did to myself for that long but here's the "reward" I gave myself for the first few months of trying to quit - however much I spent on cigarettes I saved then bought myself something with that money )only if I didn't cheat, sneaking a puff or smoking a whole cig). Then I had to break my shoe shopping addiction I developed from quitting smoking ( :
@Lenore_Happenstance - There's more strength in not smoking while in possession of cigarettes than there is in just handing them to a panhandler. Go Naomi! Lenore's right. Get rid of all the smokes today! Last thing you need is to have them around if you have a couple drinks. SO PROUD of you!
@gwenstyles - I agree. But yeah, being at a bar with friends after work, that was hard since they'd offer with "oh, it's just one cigarette" . Is New York restaurant/bar smoke free? I can't remember. When I quit those smoke free initiatives hadn't passed in my city yet.
@Lenore_Happenstance - It is. I hung out with a smoker friend last night... we went to Ikea. She had two or three smokes while with me...just while walking to and from the car 'n stuff. It wasn't that hard. I was surprised at how stinky I thought she was when we got in the car after. haha. Also, the ashtray by my bed stank lots.. i'll clean those out tonight. After Ikea walking to the car I was hungry for dinner and that was the one and only time I sort of wanted a cigarette. I didn't succumb.
I very much like the idea of organising dogs into "puntable" and "not puntable" piles.
Nice! That's wonderful that you've quit. Good for you!
Yay. Good for you. Always love hearing when people kick the habit.
@X_naomi_X - Food flavor is more identifiable not smoking so sometimes it can be way more delicious or a wow-I-ate-crappy-Taco-Bell-bleh-revealing.
Yay! I'm so happy for you. Keep it up.
Good for you!
the presence of our pet python negates any desire for a small house dog.
LOL that ticker
*chuckles* I haven't thought about Chinese jump rope in years!! I don't know if I even remember how to play - but I imagine it might come to me if I tried!
and... Good for you!
I carried around an open pack and a lighter for a while myself when I quit. It made me feel better. *shrugs*
fucking dogs. kick em if you can?
congrats on the lack of smoking.
Good luck with the smoking thing. I know it's hard, and I really do think the only way you can quit is by wanting to, deep down. Some days I wish I did smoke, just to have something in common with everyone I know.
I'm glad you're trying to quit again. You were part of my inspiration for quitting.
Yay, you! I've never found cigarettes to be a particularly good smell, but I've noticed that some of my friends who are former smokers find the smell to be truly offensive. Hope that works for you.
