Weekend Snippets
Yummy dinner with a friend in that perfect booth seat by the window. A surprisingly good Mac 'n Cheese appetizer, a doggy bag with enough leftovers for another whole meal, bourbon ketchup and jalapeno aioli with fingerling potatoes and a PBLT (pork belly, lettuce and tomato) and awesome company
followed by a drink or two (maybe 3?) at a nearby bar that is welcoming and affordable.. all while on a mission of stealing the perfect scotch glass.An accomplished mission.
A solid night of sleep with clean sheets and loaded with dreams..
Reading a new Dr. Suess book with a 3 year old.. who snuggled up to me and knew parts of it by heart (unfortunately along with an inadvertent faux pas reading of "Are You My Mother" to a kid whose mother is not in his life. I think it went ok--and the dad said it was ok as well, but there was a big moment of EEK"). Then that was followed by more Dr. Suess and more snuggling.
Having a yummy Decaf Caramel Salted Mocha from Starbucks bought for me and a nice walk with an old friend
A fun and relaxed evening with friends playing Settlers of Catan
followed by watching the Amazing Race and The Good Wife.And all that done still without cigarettes.
..and then the week begins again. But at least with something great to look forward to since on Friday I board a plane home. The fact that my flight to Paris doesn't have any window seats (or even aisle) available will be forgotten for the moment, as well as the fact that I will need to leave work early that day and will need to tell my employers this.. instead for now I will just think back to the fun snippets of my weekend.

Sounds like a truly wonderful weekend!
My BF got me Settlers of Catan for my birthday this summer and I still haven't broken it out. Is it that good?
@Lenore_Happenstance - I'm a total dork, but i LOVE that game. You need at least 3 people to play though and it is a bit annoying to get the hang of right at first. Its as if Risk and Monopoly had a baby. The best part of the game is that every game is different because the board is rebuilt each time. Let me know if you want more info
i have yet to try the salted coffee!
LOL you klepto. am i reading that wrong or did you totally steal a scotch glass? scotch, scotch, scotch, i love scotch.
@RizzlGrizzl - I wasn't the one who had a purse.. but I was an accomplice and the glass now lives at my house
Paris!! I had to put two exclamation points so you'd know how excited I am on your behalf. My week includes a parent soccer meeting at 7:00 pm tonight, getting a pre-cancerous skin thing burned off my nose on wednesday, my shrink on thursday and driving 8+ hours (round trip) to fetch my oldest son home from college for his Thanksgiving break. You win.
PS: I lived in Brugge for a year and so spoke a smattering of Nederlands in my late teen years. I thought you'd like to know that.
@fp_blahblahblog - I do like knowing that
I wish I could be excited about Paris but since i'm there only 1 hour and its early AM in the airport.. i'm not all that stoked. Being in Amsterdam will be awesome though. Good luck with your week--especially Wednesday. Don't sneeze! Is the drive to somewhere pretty with foliage? I guess we're past foliage by now.. Dank je wel! Doei doei!
Lots of lovely snippets. I need to write about mine.
I, too, have heard of but never played Settlers of Catan. I think K might like that one from what you've written. I'm not sure I would, though as I'm not big on strategy games...
K took a glass from Red Lobster once... I didn't realize it until we got in the car, the sneak! It's probably just as well as I would have had guilty written all over my face!
I tried the salted caramel and I was so excited but it just wasn't my thing. I had a salted caramel truffle during wine tasting and it was fab!
What a great bunch of snippits of fun you had. Stealing the perfect Scotch glass reminded me of a time when our office group went to Christmas dinner. One of the co-workers was very drunk and stole a brass knob off the booth. A few years later, she returned the knob due to her guilt when she sobered up. I always wondered what the restaurant personnel thought.
I <3 Catan!
@maandsaint - It can easily be made too sweet.. so I order it with "go easy on the caramel" and its yumtastic.
@myseniormoments - YEARS later? i'm impressed
@X_naomi_X - yes...years. I remember because I was so surprised she had kept the brass knob for so long and you know.....the restaurant had never replaced it...so she screwed it right back on the booth! LOL
That's a beautiful shot of that mocha, great work.
@Daffodilious - and by great work, you mean great work googling and stealing it from the internetz, right?
I didn't actually take the photo myself.
ahh, I didn't know if you were into photography, but I saw that and assumed you'd taken it.
